According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), 75% of suicides in the United Kingdom involved the death of a man, and furthermore, suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45.
This initiative looks to share the experiences of Punjabi men in relation to mental illness in an effort to lift the cloak of silence currently discouraging men from openly discussing their mental health difficulties and stopping them from seeking relevant treatments.
By presenting the experiences of Punjabi men and mental ill-health, this initiative looks to break down traditional ways in which we think about mental well-being and those who can suffer from difficulties.
We send a massive thank you to all of those who have contributed to this initiative, and we hope that their courage can inspire others to speak-up if they are finding it difficult to do so.
